Aristieta palace was built in the XVIIth century by Olaeta-Aristieta Family. In this palace were born the members of Bizkaia county council Francisco Ignacio de Olaeta Aristieta and his son Juan de Olaeta Aristieta y Trobika. The last one married Gernika mayor´s daughter, he was also member of Bizkaia county council.
There were also midshipmen and nuns in Aristieta. Teófila de Aguirre y Olaeta, Maria Josefina mother of god ordered to build San Juan Degollado chapel which still exists in the front part of Aristieta.
When the original family left, the palace turned into a country house. There Aristieta rural tourism can be found.
